[Mingle Post] Inception
Who: Everyone! Open to All
What: "Inception" mingle logs
When: any time
Where: dream-built settings: totems, building dreams, projections
Entering someone's dream means entering the most private, secret, and vulnerable part of their mind. It means the chance of influencing them, it means the risk of losing yourself. It means building up fantasies, and it means watching them explode when the dream crumbles.
Hold on to your totem, explore, and protect yourself.
(ooc: This is a post to keep threads together for the Inception prompt. Separate posts or additional subthreads are also fine, and this one is optional. More information on the theme can be found here.)

Where do you want to go today?

Sayaka moved forward, trying not to gasp as another of those small, stubby legged creatures ran by -- the familiars. They were dressed in nurses' hats, scurrying around like mice as they darted around and forward. She hugged Kyuubey slightly closer to her chest. Although her heart beat faster the further she went -- she tried her best to keep her fear from her expression.

Had she? Instead, there was just the unsettling deja vu, and Sayaka. She stayed close to the other puella magi out of prudence; Madoka would be deeply hurt if Sayaka were injured or killed.
"Be on your guard here," she tells Sayaka calmly. "This is not a place for playing around."

"Look, we don't need you here, all right? Mami-san is going to be coming here any minute now, so you can just go ahead and leave!"

And she couldn't tell Sayaka. In her waking life, she would have; and Sayaka would have been skeptical but willing to listen. But this younger Sayaka, angry at her already, would definitely not believe her.
"It would be better if I finished this witch before Tomoe Mami arrived," was all she could say.

And with that, she took off running.
"Are you sure that was the best decision, Sayaka? You know, if the witch finds out that we're already here, there could be trouble."
The gril gritted her teeth together. Yes. This was the best decision. Girls like Akemi, a magical girl that only fought and cared for her own gain...
"You know, if things progress too quickly, you can always make a contract with me."
"I-I know..." she replied, running still deeper into the labyrinth.

Her intentions had been the opposite of Sayaka's guesses. If Mami arrived to this battle, then it would end the way it had countless other times in countless other timelines. And if Sayaka ran ahead like that...
It could very well be Sayaka in Mami's place. And Madoka would be deeply hurt at the disappearance and loss of her friend. Some day, if it wouldn't also have hurt Madoka, Homura would have liked to let Sayaka go so that her reckless ways would stop bringing more trouble.
All she could do right now was to hurry to the witch.
youre going to be too late homuchan!!!!!
Pushing through another door just ahead -- she stopped dead in her tracks. The change of scenery was alarming -- suddenly she found herself in a large room adorned with sweets. A high table stood in the middle of the room, a small pink thing sitting in one of the two chairs.
A tea party? But what could...
She ducked behind some of the desserts near-by, crouching, waiting and keeping an eye on the creature until...
"Sayaka!" cried Madoka's familiar voice. And there, alongside her, Mami.
"You made it!"
/sob her endless fate
Wait. She was seeing this, when she should be out in the corridors of the labyrinth still, tied up in the binding spell on Mami's ribbons. Then maybe there was that tiny chance-
She decided to join the battle. She ignored the other girls, instead running dangerously close to the witch to get its attention on her instead. She should be able to defeat it - its level wasn't a deterrent to her - and then...!
disgustingly late /shame
"Tiro..." Mami's voice brought her back into the fight, she was about to do her signature move! The finishing blow! "Finale!" The gun exploded forcefully, piercing the witch right at its centre. Sayaka's grin was already in the making, ready to congratulate Mami on her victory, but then...
The witch had changed shape... emerging from the body of the first one, a grotesque clown face smiling madly. Sayaka felt her blood run cold. A mouthful of razor sharp teeth opened --
never <3
That's what Sayaka didn't understand: There was no glory to being a magical girl. There was only this. For her, too: Some day Homura would encounter a witch she couldn't defeat, she was sure of it. And that was fine, if only-
It didn't take much to finish defeating the witch after that. Or to take the grief seed. She turned to face the other two, both of them still from shock.
is ami. mercury icon is for mood/expression
She had no need to move. She had no impulse to move. Her thoughts weighed her down as heavily as if the entire barrier were made of iron chains. She wasn't sure just what had made her feet stop and her body sag to the floor, but she remembered hate. Anger. Violence. She remembered darkness, and death, following her like a shadow.
She was, simply, bad inside.

"It looks like a person," Kyuubey was always a great help.
"Hey are you all right?!" Sayaka rushed over towards the other girl, expression washing over her features as she crouched down. Letting her companion creature down to the ground, Sayaka laid a hand gently on Ami's shoulder. "Hey! Can you hear me? Are you hurt?"
no subject
She had hurt. She had ruined. She had killed. To everyone who crossed her path, she had brought suffering and darkness like a seeping poison.
Aside from that mark on her neck, there didn’t seem to be anything wrong; there were no injuries, no cuts, no bruises. She was simply too far inside herself to move or speak, or even fully register the concerned face looking back at her. She didn’t even seem to blink.

"Sayaka, look," the creature pointed out from the other side of Ami. "It's a Witch's Kiss."
"No way, then this girl..." Sayaka's eyebrows furrowed momentarily with worry. Then, without anymore hesitation, she grabbed the young woman by the wrist, forcefully pulling her to her feet. "You can hear me, can't you?!" she raised her voice, doning a serious look. "You need to get out of here, it's not safe, understand? Hey! Are you listening?!"
no subject
The movement did, at least, seem to do her some good. Her voice was somewhat vague, but she finally spoke, the first sign of reaction she'd shown at all.
"This is where I should stay."
no subject
"Sayaka, you should be quieter. The witch might awake otherwise and then -- "
But it was too late. The walls began to shake, the floor beneath them trambling, indicating that the witch knew there were intruders in her lair. Although her eyes widened in panic, her grip around the other girl's wrist tightened as she did her best to pull her along. "We need to run for it! Move your feet, let's go!"
no subject
There was something, something malevolent. And as she kept moving, new thoughts started to form.
It wasn't like her to give up. Perhaps she might not mind it if she died here, but if she died without a fight... wasn't that saying everything she had done had been useless? What was it all for, if even this strange girl could want to grab her by the hand, and she let herself be defeated?
Never to see Kanda again, never to see John again, or any of the other people she wanted to be with.
Her eyes cleared. Her head lifted higher. And Ami finally pulled her hand away from Sayaka's, and crossed her fists in the air.
"Dark Power, Make-Up!" She wasn't going to run away from this.
