So You Want to Sell Your Soul...
The city, Midgar was full of people. Soulless, faceless people that ate and breathed and worked and slept. People who didn't have a prayer when it came to protecting themselves from the evils of the world. The monsters that lurked in the darkness, in the streets at night and threatened their very lives as they lay sleeping. Then there were the creatures that inhabited the city, just as monstrous and inhuman but somehow more honest about wanting to destroy you and for what reason.
The Turks were the last bastions of defense against the evils that was AVALANCHE led by Fuhito. They were the only thing separating the world from teetering beyond the brink of despair and falling into destruction. Everything they cared about would disappear. Homes, lives, family. They were a family. Drastic measures had to be taken, consequences notwithstanding. They were underpowered, short handed. There was no way to win against these guys. Reno could not let any more fall to Fuhito and his bunch. He had lost too many people he was willing to call friend. This was where it ended.
This room.
Reno held the grip of his EMR tightly, knuckles turning white with the force, standing in front of an impressively carved oak desk. It was an audacious plan, one that could backfire or cause any number of unexpected things, but it was their one last hope. They needed help, more power, something, and Reno was going to sacrifice himself to get it- not that he had that much humanity left anyway. Not with most of his friends six feet under. He was a lone turk against the world.
The person behind the desk was sitting in an over-sized winged back chair, facing the large floor to ceiling window overlooking the city basking in the glow of mako. Nothing was going to get done like that, he had power to buy and a soul to sell. He walked forward and grabbed the chair to swing it around.

When she's close enough to the picture, she pushes it slightly. A test, to see just how sturdy it is. When it doesn't move an inch, she smirks. That's certainly suspicious, isn't it?
Yuffie becomes completely distracted, though, when Reno poses his question. Forgetting the picture for the moment, she turns around to study him fully. She admits to herself she's not really thought about any Turk liking their job, least of all Reno.
Then again, there's no telling what Tseng's thinking, or Rude for that matter. Elena was pretty easy to read, and Yuffie had thought Reno was, too. Now she's not so sure, and she's starting to feel a little bit out of her comfort zone.
"Never really thought about it," she says honestly, suspending the flippant responses for the moment. "You've just always kinda been the bad guy, so..." Trailing off, she shrugs, not really sure how to explain it.
qrtrtgsfg I am sorry ;-;
That was it, wasn't it? Viewpoints. Yuffie and her friends thought they were doing the right thing. Reno wasn't always sure but he damned as hell tried to keep his team in one piece. When it came to Fuhito, he knew they had done the right thing.
Something snapped inside him at that realization. It was his dream. He could tell her off if he wanted to.
"You guys got no idea what we go through. I got people I want to protect, too. They're the ones back here in Midgar. It's a big city, y'know? Lots of people. Life is shit enough without the weekly plot to overthrow Shinra and tear everything down." He pointed briefly at view of the city, still active as ever and bright in the sunlight and mako glow. People were living, growing, falling in love and having families in that city.
"It's been rough in the Turks. Sometimes I got no idea how I pull through some days. On top of that, we got our own code, and it doesn't always go with what the company wants. Sometimes, we got no choice what we do because it's either that or they'll hunt us down like dogs and kill us. Which they've done before." A pause here, while Reno took a deep breath in. Through it all, he spoke calmly, his eyes just slightly narrowed to watch her reactions. If she was smart, she would pick up the hint the Turks weren't always on Shinra's good side.
"Then you guys come along and start bombing up the city. That sure was smart. We get called in to stop it. Do we like it? No. It's just more blood on our hands and a pat on our back. What if Shinra came over to Wutai and started bombing up your town? That's how wars start. And y'know what, princess? There isn't any difference."
fffff no apologies needed :D
Yuffie herself is well aware of her own selfish tendencies - even traveling with AVALANCHE hadn't completely wiped that part of her away. She just doesn't steal as much anymore, and she thinks about the world as a whole sometimes. Wutai is still her priority, of course, but she's a little more aware that there are things bigger than her or her home. His words bring home the fact that nobody is perfect, even herself.
Despite his very good points (that she never really gave much thought to before), she bristles at the end of his rant. Bringing Wutai into the conversation when Shinra had stomped all over them like it was nothing still burns her.
"Hey, I had nothing to do with that crazy bombing scheme they did before, so you should bitch at Barret or Cloud about that." Angrily, she crosses her arms over her chest, looking away from him as she continued. "Nobody's innocent in this one, hotshot. I think out of everyone, Shinra is the worst. They just bulldozed over any who defied them. Without any apology or regret."
The years old grudge is still inside her, brought back to the surface with his mention of Wutai. "And I remember a certain Wutai War that happened because we dared to say no to that damn company, and look where it got us."
Belly up and submissive, that's where. She's still so angry at Godo for turning her Wutai into some kitschy tourist trap. It's slowly turning around, but that doesn't erase the failure. Yuffie was young when it happened, but she remembers like it was yesterday.

Sorry for the lateness :(
Well, what she always did. Something probably dangerous and involving materia. Gotta stick to her old standby, right?
"Who knows, maybe I got plans," she says this loftily. She's now distracted from her search, instead propping herself against the desk with her arms crossed. "Not that I'm gonna tell anyone or anything."
Which means she actually has no plan at all, but bluffing has always worked for her in the past.
Sometimes.
what lateness?
Nodding at the view of Midgar, his face grew serious for a moment. "There's not a person in the world that isn't."
