[He almost smiles, looking down at his own knees. To think, this was supposed to be the perfect dream, and now he would give anything to wake up and be with his own Peter. He didn't appreciate Miami being ruined for him, but Peter hardly needed more guilt.] No. I'm sorry. [Adam looks back up at Peter, biting the inside of his lip.] I really am.

[Adam almost thinks he can deal with his ruined dream if Peter believes him, as impractical as that may be. He offers Peter a real smile, and then he holds out his hand.] If you're going to ring up West anyway, it doesn't matter, does it?

Good man, Peter. [He snaps his fingers for another beer, settling in for his real vacation to start.]

If there's one thing I've learned over the past month, it's that the wrong Peter is better than no Peter at all. [He rubs his thumb against the palm of Peter's hand, starting in on his beer without so much as a look to the dreamgirl who brought it.]

You're so eager to give it up? Should I be offended?

[That catches Adam a little off-guard, but he supposes future Peter would know these things.] He won't show up.

I'll see him in the morning anyway, [he reminds Peter, bringing his hand up to his lips, hesitating, or really giving Peter a chance to pull away.]

[His lips brush over the back of Peter's hand, mulling that over.] I won't disagree.

It's beautiful. [he agrees. His subconscious had done good.]

[He kisses Peter's hand once more before resting it on his knee, following Peter's gaze appreciatively.] Are you seeing anyone, Peter?

It's such a ridiculous prospect? [He lifts an eyebrow, trying not to be affected himself.]

You're back at the hospital?

That's hardly surprising.
