♔ 1| It's Only A Dream...

[Arthur Pendragon, Crown Prince and unofficial regent of Camelot is dreaming of tournaments.

This in itself isn't the least bit odd, what is odd, is how the dream in question is unfolding.

For one thing, Father is in the stands dressed in - of all things - a jesters hat!

Merlin is standing beside Arthur and is handing him what should be his sword, but it's not, it's just a sad looking tree branch! And waiting to face him on the field of battle is Guinevere! Who looks quite fetching in armour, but considering the sword she's brandishing is real, the whole thing is all together unsettling.

Granted, Arthur's had a lot on his shoulders and has been forced to get by on little sleep, but this...this is just ridiculous!

And somehow, there's a nagging feeling that things are about to get a lot more ridiculous.]

[He packs a hard punch. But they're still locked in their match; she acknowledges the pain with little more than a sharp breath. She lashes out with her elbow to create space for herself to maneuver, setting herself up for her next attack - a punch of her own, backed up by the force of a water vortex. She releases it on the upswing.]

[She holds it there only a moment before completely releasing her control, a bid to let Arthur fall to the ground. She doesn't fight holding back, not even for just a tournament.]

[She comes closer again, but outside his range.]

Concede, and I'll tell you.

[The prince should know it, of all people: An inflexible opponent in a match doesn't mean an enemy.]

I have no reason to kill you. There's just no reason to prolong this.

Just what man do you think would be able to defeat me to carry out that sentence?

[This, of course, is ego. It covers the moment while she needs to think, to decide how to cope with an idea she's only read about in books: the forbidding of magic. The forbidding of her kinship to the Water that she couldn't shut out even if she wanted to.

And she has no intention of ever trying. The same pride that made her insist upon using her powers for the tournament assures that she will not forsake them.]

More importantly, why was such a law imposed?

[To her credit, and as a testament to at least some maturity, she lets the comment pass without anger, and even seems to consider it seriously.

She can't help but consider it seriously. She thinks of Beryl, of the princess, of Metalia. They had quite literally brought destruction to the world.

And yet other power has stopped them. Other power has fought against the ones who would bring that destruction, whoever they may be. She looks Arthur straight in the eye, now.]

Magic. Illusions. Spells. Power. I've lived with those things for longer than a human can imagine living.

Power is power. I can finish you right now, or I can heal that bruise - if I want. It's my choice.

Don't mistake my choice for your choice. [Whether she'd hurt or heal is entirely her own decision.]

And I've lived for thousands of years. [It's true, in the past life; and even if it weren't, she was born immortal and will remain immortal. When she died, there was this time; when she dies again, there'll be a next time.]

Humans should be ready to live according to that sort of wisdom. [Instead, in her past life just as in Arthur's world, humans had feared and mistrusted the Silver Millenium kingdom.] Instead, you plan to wipe it out?

[identity profile] waterfell.livejournal.com 2011-09-03 12:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Humans have always feared what's beyond them. [This, she does say with a smugness born from the Dark Kingdom, and not the Moon.]

[She shapes her next word perfectly.]

Coward.

So take your vengeance for that - if you can. [She understands vengeance. She's lived by it and for it. So has the man who brought her to be reborn in the Darkness.]
