♔ 1| It's Only A Dream...
[Arthur Pendragon, Crown Prince and unofficial regent of Camelot is dreaming of tournaments.
This in itself isn't the least bit odd, what is odd, is how the dream in question is unfolding.
For one thing, Father is in the stands dressed in - of all things - a jesters hat!
Merlin is standing beside Arthur and is handing him what should be his sword, but it's not, it's just a sad looking tree branch! And waiting to face him on the field of battle is Guinevere! Who looks quite fetching in armour, but considering the sword she's brandishing is real, the whole thing is all together unsettling.
Granted, Arthur's had a lot on his shoulders and has been forced to get by on little sleep, but this...this is just ridiculous!
And somehow, there's a nagging feeling that things are about to get a lot more ridiculous.]

He gets that same feeling now as this strange girl's vortex hits him and swallows him up.]

He finally catches it and manages to scramble to his feet.]
"What the Hell was that?!"
no subject
Concede, and I'll tell you.
no subject
Except the stands are now empty and his father has disappeared.]
"What will you do if I concede? Kill me anyway?"
no subject
I have no reason to kill you. There's just no reason to prolong this.

He frowns, but he can't see any other alternative. Not that it was a fair fight anyway. He gives a sniff.]
"I concede. How are you still here...alive, magic is banned in Camelot, on pain of death."
no subject
[This, of course, is ego. It covers the moment while she needs to think, to decide how to cope with an idea she's only read about in books: the forbidding of magic. The forbidding of her kinship to the Water that she couldn't shut out even if she wanted to.
And she has no intention of ever trying. The same pride that made her insist upon using her powers for the tournament assures that she will not forsake them.]
More importantly, why was such a law imposed?
no subject
"Because...magic only leads to pain and suffering."
[He's dead serious when he says that.]

She can't help but consider it seriously. She thinks of Beryl, of the princess, of Metalia. They had quite literally brought destruction to the world.
And yet other power has stopped them. Other power has fought against the ones who would bring that destruction, whoever they may be. She looks Arthur straight in the eye, now.]
Magic. Illusions. Spells. Power. I've lived with those things for longer than a human can imagine living.
Power is power. I can finish you right now, or I can heal that bruise - if I want. It's my choice.
no subject
"Uh...no thank you, it's fine." [It's actually throbbing a bit, but he won't show it.] "And what do you mean longer than a human can imagine. You can't be much older than sixteen."
no subject
And I've lived for thousands of years. [It's true, in the past life; and even if it weren't, she was born immortal and will remain immortal. When she died, there was this time; when she dies again, there'll be a next time.]
Humans should be ready to live according to that sort of wisdom. [Instead, in her past life just as in Arthur's world, humans had feared and mistrusted the Silver Millenium kingdom.] Instead, you plan to wipe it out?
no subject
He frowns, that's not what the aim is...not to him at least. But then Arthur knows little of magic and is under the impression that magic is something everyone can do not just a select few. And those who do it fall into evil.]
"More like discourage them...Albion doesn't need magic, as I've said it causes no end of trouble."
no subject
[She shapes her next word perfectly.]
Coward.
